Get active (and outdoors!)
In case you needed another excuse to exercise, physical activity has been shown to push your antibodies and white blood cells to circulate more rapidly. This means they can detect illness earlier than they may have otherwise, giving your body a chance to build a more robust defence. Exercise can also assist in flushing bacteria out of the lungs and airways as well as lowering the release of stress hormones which leave your body much more susceptible to illness. Rug up and get outside for a long walk, run or bike-ride in the fresh air, or get along to the gym. Your body will thank you for it.
Cook this immune-boosting Vegan Red Lentil Dahl
Give your body a fighting chance by nourishing it with immune-boosting fuel. This Vegan Red Lentil Dahl is packed with anti-inflammatory turmeric and ginger, which add both flavour and a severe immune boost to this cosy stew. Curcumin in turmeric is a powerhouse for fighting certain viruses, and the gingerol in ginger is known to be a potent anti-inflammatory.
- 2 tbs olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 red chilli deseeded and finely chopped
- 1 tomato finely chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander (cilantro) roots and stalks finely chopped
- 6 curry leaves
- 1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 2 cloves garlic finely chopped
- 1 cup red lentils
- 3 cups vegetable stock
- 1 cup coconut milk
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lemon juiced
Place a large pot over your smallest burner set to medium heat. Add the olive oil (you can also use coconut oil or ghee) and the onions, ginger, chilli, tomato and coriander roots. Add a couple of pinches of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are sweet and golden, around 5 minutes. Add the curry leaves and mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start to pop, add the rest of the spices and garlic. Cook until fragrant. Add the lentils, stock and coconut milk and when it starts bubbling, reduce the heat to low. Let the dahl bubble away for 20 minutes or so or until the lentils collapse, and the dahl becomes beautifully creamy. Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary and add a squeeze of lemon. Serve with rice or on its own. The full recipe can be found here.
Focus on the air you breathe
A cold virus or the flu spreads through tiny air droplets that are released when a sick person sneezes, coughs or blows their nose. There has even been research done showing that the air an infected person breathes can be enough to infect those around them. Furthermore, where there are contaminants in the air, this can irritate your lungs and airways, aggravating respiratory diseases. This makes it more critical than ever to clean the air we breathe. To do so, we must subtract from it. That’s where our ChlorosPure® technology comes in.
Where traditional room sprays mask malodours by disguising air toxins, SENSORI+ Air Detoxifying Mists are proven to eliminate over 100 air toxins with a 96% removal ratio. When sprayed, the ChlorosPURE® technology is released in small droplets with a radius of less than 0.04mm, allowing it the best adsorption and permeation capability. From here, the ChlorosPURE® technology can analyse the “fingerprints” of air toxin molecules like cold or flu contaminants and alter their surface properties before providing dedicated decomposers that dissolve the chemical components. This allows the toxic unit to be separated and the source of contamination in the air to be deconstructed. This biochemical reaction sees ChlorosPURE® catalyse, redox and react to insoluble chemical odour components, meaning that the toxic molecules are transformed into inorganic compounds within seconds, leaving the air you breathe far cleaner the before.
